I can't even begin to speculate anything like this, my life has been rather pedestrian without any great mysteries or interesting plots.

There are aspects to history that are often unknown or deserve greater attention that can be highlighted by adding exciting fictional elements to them. I didn't really set out to write historical fiction with Life Unworthy, that's just where the concept went and like the rest of my books I just followed it where it went.

I have not finished it yet, I got a big bogged down in the third section. He's clearly much smarter than I am and its starting to show.

I've gotten more focused over the years, honing my craft. Early copies of Snowberry's Veil are very rough and have significant problems with timeline and even a horse that disappears without explanation.
Most of my experience with writing came from running role playing games for decades - inventing stories with others on the fly with a skeleton of a plot - and I have learned quite a bit from those experiences and preparing games.

It depends a lot on the cause. Most of the time I power through it and it goes away, but sometimes the cause is discomfort with an earlier section I need to address, or just plain exhaustion or illness, which requires rest. Writer's block almost always is just fear of failure or uncertainty, and sometimes just the preference to do something else, which you can just ignore if you need to.

Give national novel writing month a shot, it will teach you that you can get past the intimidation and worries about finishing an entire book and teach you skills you can only learn through experience.

I have always made up stories, whether in my head while I went to sleep or wandering our family farm, or walking to and from school. The first story I ever wrote was in 1st grade, about a dinosaur. I guess its always been with me.

Life Unworthy started with just an idea: what if a werewolf was caught in a shower at Auschwitz? So I wrote that scene out. Then I started wondering, what happens next, how would the Germans react, what does the werewolf do? And off it goes. That's how I do most of my writing; asking and answering questions.
