Hmmm, I don't recall working with them. Do you have the link where it has one of my books?

Oh, Dr. Mac was the best! He called me "Brownie" at first until I said something he particularly liked about THE GREAT GATSBY, and at that moment he christened me "Browning." Ha! I've gotten to visit with him a few times in recent years and I was really happy he got to lay hands on WINGWALKERS :)

Hi Donna! Great question. I added a quote citations page to the final version of the book that tells where some of the things people say were gleaned from the historical record, and there's a Bibliography in the back of the book that lists the major sources I used to conduct my research. There are varying and conflicting accounts of many aspects of the history (such as Mother Jones's Presidential telegram), so it's sometimes hard to delineate exactly what's truth and fiction even in the historical record. But in most cases I tried to infer / intuit what might have happened based on the evidence at hand. If there's anything specific you'd like to know, don't hesitate to ask!

You're welcome! Thank you so much for the kind words!

Hi Marilyn, I'm so sorry about that. Could you tell me which book it was for, and where you would like the book delivered?

(view spoiler)[Thank you so much for writing Fallen Lands. I absolutely loved it! Though I did wonder why Callum was so dedicated to Ava right from the start. After only a brief encounter, he decided to return for her. Why is that? (hide spoiler)]
Taylor Brown
That's a good question, Ashley. I think Callum was pretty alone in the world and something extreme happened inside him when he saw Ava. Call it "love it at first sight" or infatuation or a startled protective instinct -- one of those times when we react without thought.

Hey Rachel! I do ride, but I'm not an expert horseman. However, I'm blessed to have a good friend Blaine Capone of Beso Toro (https://besotoro.com/) who is a professional trainer.
When we both lived in the Asheville area, I would go up to this place and help with chores like felling trees and splitting wood in return for riding lessons. After he moved to New Hampshire, I spent an intensive period in the summer up there with him -- training daily -- and he was kind enough to answer horse-related questions throughout the writing of the book.

Hi Sharon, thank you for the kind words! The River of Kings is my second novel -- it came out in March 2017. It's set on the Altamaha River in Georgia, very close to where I grew up. The Altamaha -- aka the "Amazon of the South" -- is the largest undammed river in the eastern United States. The Nature Conservancy has named it one of the 75 "Last Great Places" on Earth, and it even has its own sea monster ;)

Hi Sharon! Thank you so much for the kind words. If you liked Gods, you might go back and read my first novel, Fallen Land. Hope you enjoy!

Hi Regina! I'm so sorry you haven't received your book. Where did you order the book from? I don't sell them myself and don't have much influence on that side of the equation, but I will help if I can.

Roger, just updated the website this morning with the 2017 listings! Unfortunately, they don't have me returning to Richmond this time :(

Cynthia, believe it or not, that picture is from an actual tintype taken by my friend Harry Taylor, who uses an authentic 19th-century camera. It requires a 12-second exposure and the shots are developed on small metal plates...it's quite an experience! Here's his website:

Oh man, just seeing this! They are saying spring of 2016. We were originally hoping 2015 sometime, next year being the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, but it's cutting it a little too close.
