Tim Floreen Hey there! Thank you so much for your questions, and I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. The holidays were keeping me super busy. First off, I'm so happy you enjoy my books! At the moment I'm not sure when the next one's coming out. I'm currently working on a project I'm SO EXCITED ABOUT. I'm almost done with the second draft, but it'll probably still be a while before it's ready to send out to potential publishers. So ... I hope you don't mind a bit of a wait, but I hope it'll be worth it! I'd love to write about Lee and Nico again someday, and I have lots of ideas for a sequel (or two), but I'm not actively working on that right now. So we'll see what happens. I have no idea where I get my ideas from, although I seem to have a lot of them in the middle of the night, which is why I keep a pad of paper next to my bed. In fact, that's my first piece of writing advice: Keep a pad of paper next to your bed. And read a lot and write a lot. And don't worry if what you write isn't perfect. Just keep writing. Some people seem to think you have to have a "talent" for writing to be a good writer, and I think that's bull. If you practice and practice and practice you WILL GET BETTER. So keep at it. I hope that helps. And thank you so much for reading my books!
Tim Floreen Hey, Dustin! From another former denizen of a conservative small town, congratulations on surviving! And that's so cool that you're looking to dive into writing. I know it can be hard to find time to write when you're in the middle of college, but I wouldn't recommend dropping out to pursue writing. Write in the mornings, write on weekends, write during vacations, but stay in school. One thing to remember about writing: it's a wonderful job, but it doesn't pay well (and it often doesn't pay at all), so you gotta do it because you love it, and you gotta make sure you have another means of supporting yourself. All through my writing career, I've had other jobs to help make ends meet. So make sure you have a way to make a living (and getting a good education and a degree is a great way to do that), and also remember that college will help you become a better writer anyway! Best of luck, Dustin, and keep writing!
Tim Floreen Thanks for reading TA, and I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I wrote this book as a self-contained story and don't think I'll be writing a sequel. But I hope you'll check out my other book, Willful Machines!
Tim Floreen Hey, Grace! I'm so happy you liked WM! I definitely agree that there's much more to say about Lee and Nico, and I do hope to write a sequel at some point--though to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure when that'll be. In the meantime, though, I have another book called TATTOO ATLAS out now and more cool stuff in the works. So stay tuned!
Tim Floreen Hey Jimbo! I do have lots of ideas for a Willful Machines sequel, and I'd love to get back to Lee and Nico at some point, but right now I have some other writing projects I'm working on, so I'm afraid I can't give a definite timeframe. Keep your eyes open though! And thanks for reading!
Tim Floreen Hey, Zoey! As a matter of fact, I'm almost done with the first draft of a new book that I'm very excited about. I don't have a publication date for it yet, but I'm hoping for 2018. And I'm contributing a chapter to a "collaborative novel" project called FERAL YOUTH, edited by Shaun Hutchinson and coming out in 2017!
Tim Floreen Hey, Angie! I'm so happy you enjoyed WM! I've actually been intrigued by artificial intelligence for a long time, and I wanted to write something different from the standard Terminator-type scenario in which the A.I. is evil and wants to destroy humans and take over the world. So this is what I came up with! As for a sequel, I do hope to write more about Lee and Nico at some point, although it may be a while before that happens, because I have a few other writing projects to finish first--including my second book, TATTOO ATLAS, which comes out this October. I hope you'll check it out! Thanks so much for your question, and happy reading!
