Christina Simpson Writers block can be a difficult thing to overcome. If I'm having that problem, I take a break. Beware not to step away for too long, and during your break- seek out inspiration purposefully. Watch People, bounce ideas off of your trusted friends. All of these things help.
Christina Simpson What a question! I suppose the answer would be different for everyone. For me? I'd say the best thing about being a writer is putting in months and months of laboring to create this beautiful piece of work for not just myself, but those around me. I fall in love with my own characters and it's so excited to see them grow from just a tiny glimpse of an idea to a full life story rollercoaster.
Christina Simpson Just write! Don't let your doubts get in the way! I feel like the most important thing to say to aspiring writers is this: Your first book will never be your best book. Writers grow every single day. The more you write, the more you learn. The more you love your characters, the more complex emotions you see them deal with. Take your time, write as often as you can, and know that writing is an ever growing skill.
Christina Simpson My current project is something I'm definitely falling in love with. I have never dabbled in the fantasy genre until now, and I'm so excited that I decided to do so. "Finding Alaris" is scheduled to be release in the early spring and it's really just around the corner. It's amazing to completely create and describe and write about an entirely new world or worlds. You can literally do anything.
Christina Simpson I get inspired to write through everything, to be honest. Sometimes it's sitting in a coffee shop watching the people around me and documenting characteristics- wondering what their life is like. Sometimes it's reading other books, watching movies, listening to music. All of those things are important in the creative process. That being said, what I find the most inspiring, are the everyday stories of the people around me. My family, kids, friends, peers, and more. Everyone has a story.
Christina Simpson "Redemption" was birthed out of a few different avenues. For years, I have been a supporter of various projects that aid in the relief of Human Trafficking victims. It's always been a near and dear subject to me. Nearly a year ago, I was sitting in a service with a special speaker from The International Justice Mission and I just knew I wanted to write a story, not just about the horrors of trafficking, but the life afterward. I wanted there to be hope. I wanted to show that people can get healing and move on in their life with the love of their family, their friends, and most importantly with the love of God. That's where it came from, and that's where each of the following books in the series will come from as well.
