No, I wasn't aware of it. Coincidently, I was just at the Air Force Academy where they have a large monument that goes into detail about the Army Air Corps transformation to the Air Force.
I'll have to look up at how the USMC and USAF cooperated.

I have beta readers, JIT readers, and different editors for each book. And that is after self-editing and running the books through Grammarly. Despite that, it is still a problem, and I'm not sure of the fix except to keep on trying.

Charl, I'm glad you liked the book, and I hope you like "Gladiator." And the use of "diffusing" was a mistake, one that slipped by both my editors and me. Thanks for pointing that out, and I will get that fixed.

It was the same editor as before. I saw your review in Amazon and the mention of the missing "general," and I fixed that immediately. That was a big miss on our part.

Thank you so much for the comment. I write because I love to, but comments such as this and the reception given the series means so much to me. It validates all the time and sweat given to bring Ryck's story to life. I am continually amazed that other people actually seem to like the story, and I am eternally grateful for each and every reader who took the time to purchase and read the books. I've got one more book to finish in the Werewolf of Marines series, then it will be back to the UFMC with a stand-alone book first, I think (as it is more developed and ready to go) and then another series where some of the characters in the first series will be featured and/or make appearances. Semper fi, Craig!

Thanks, Chris, for the kind words. This series is ending after one more book. All the books, except for Lieutenant Colonel, had been planned since the beginning (although I wish I had fit in a Gunny after Sergeant as some story lines came to me while writing).
However, I have four books already planned for the same universe. One is a stand alone, and three will be a new series. I just thought I needed to tell new tales from someone other than Ryck's perspective.
And it was my pleasure to serve. Thank you for your support and for paying my salary for all those years. :)

Jim,
First, thanks for reading the series.
Second, as to your question: the Klethos, despite their choosing stylized combat, are extremely advanced from a technological standpoint. What they do to the weapons is simply not understood by the Marines. How this happened is beyond them, which is why "somehow" was used, and "melting" is the best they can come up with.
I have discussed this with someone with a better science background than I have, and the theoretical concept revolves around molecular resonance, but that is all pie-in-the-sky physics. I chose not to develop this now because the Marines don't understand it.
I currently have at least one associated book in the planning stages for after when the conclusion to the series comes out next month. My intent is to get much deeper into the Klethos, a new genmodded human gladiator, and how the two species interact. Much more about the Klethos will come out then.
Thanks for the question, and I hope I answered it to your satisfaction.

I am writing the final volume of Ryck's story now and hope to have it finished before the end of the year. That will make eight in the series. There is one side book in which Ryck makes an appearance, and I have four other books planned in the UFMC universe. However, I will finish my Werewolf of Marines series next before starting on them.

Let me contact Amazon to see if they will update it. If not, I will just buy it and gift it to you.
Jonathan P. Brazee
Send me your Amazon account email via message here, and I will make sure you have the right volume. This was fixed immediately after publication in November 2014, so I am not sure what happened. I will upload the correct version again.
Jonathan P. Brazee
Thanks for the message. If I can ask, when did you get the book and in what format? This error was because of a previous edition being uploaded, not the final edition. This was caught and fixed a week later, so all current editions should be the final edition.
This was a big error, so mea culpa.

Sure, you can use any or all of it as you deem fit. And you can attribute it as you deem fit as well.

Ryck makes a cameo in Rebel, the next book, which is not focussed on the Federation Marines. In fact, they are not necessarily the "good guys." Rebel is a departure, but it is in the same universe and sets up the fifth book, in which Ryck comes back in full force.
