You have a large following. I have been on here for several years and only have a few. I also don't understand the whole thing from an advertising picture. I also don't understand the whole website. I have backed off and come back, backed off and come back again. I have maintained my page here with my books but it still just doesn't attract. So, I must be doing something wrong? Thanks, Gordon Kuhn

Mercedes Fox My blog/website (which I had to take down just a couple days ago) hosted over 400 author interviews. I've met most of my followers from my blog's author interviews. I also use Twitter. It's taken awhile but I do have 5000+ followers finally.

Check out the forums and do interviews with bloggers. If you setup a website if it's not posting something new won't get much traffic. But without Twitter to announce everything nobody would have known about it.

I no longer have my site so now I'm depending on Goodreads, Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest, to keep my followers with me. The best advice I got came out of Rayne Hall's book: Twitter for Writers: The Author's Guide to Tweeting Success (Writer's Craft Book 8)

If you are writing books in a series, how much of subesquent books have you already written before you publish the first?

Mercedes Fox That's a great question! I'm not a big thinker ahead so my books are written in the order published. I come up with the ideas well after the book is either in production or well after.

Mercedes Fox I don't specify on my blog. ALL authors and genres are welcome to be interviewed. On my blog they are tagged by the genre to help readers find specific authors.

Do you have any tips for creating gripping and interesting characters? What is your inspiration? How long have you been writing and how did you get started? -E.K (Emma)

Mercedes Fox Hi Emma! Sorry for the delay in answering. My best characters are based on people I know. I can flesh them out so much easier if I have an emotional/relationship with them. Though I don't tell anyone who they are IF they are a model in stories.
I've been writing since I was a kid but didn't try the actual "be an author" game until about 3 years ago.
I got into writing because my Mother is a ferocious reader and I loved that all these people wrote these books that Mom loved. How cool would it be to be alone and write your imagination...
