Charles E. Rouse I would travel to Middle Earth, where the Hobbits are. What would I do there? Anything Gandalf needed. The story of the Ring is the fight between good and evil. I would do anything I could to fight on the side of the good.
Charles E. Rouse Writer's block can be writer's block and it can be person block. In other words, if you're convinced that you should write and you can't, something is going on in your life. Look at your relationships- towards improving them, not wrecking them. Continue to read and study. Travel if you can. Wash your car. Go swimming. Think about things. In general, if you're meant to write, you'll come to a place where you can and I'll tell you how it feels.
You look a blank page and your fingers trip over each other trying to get it all said. Relax, it'll either happen, or maybe you should have been an accountant anyway. Nothing wrong with that.
Charles E. Rouse I think having the freedom to say what you want about whatever you want. And, frankly, I like to write.
Charles E. Rouse Read, read, read. Write, write, write. You'll figure it out. If you're meant to do it, you won't be able to get away.
You'll probably need a day job. I have no real advice on that.
Charles E. Rouse Good question. I always have ideas for books, I also have books that can be brought out in second editions and published properly, like in Print on Demand instead of the manuscript like forms they're in now. I'm not sure I'll be on to new work. We'll see.
Charles E. Rouse It's subjective. I think you write when you have a story to tell, the more specific, the better. If you have the story, then you just need to get a general idea of the structure in a very broad way and start. If it works it works. If it doesn't, set it aside and go on to something else. Save the work, you may get an idea on it later.
Charles E. Rouse It's something I've meant to do since I graduated from College. The book is about the college experience, plus the crazy times, that was the late sixties. I just recently felt that I could write, so I did. I really had to do it, it was plaguing me and just had to be written.
