Because of my present financial state (I'm an independent - I have to save for my audiobooks and Covid19 has emptied my savings) I don't see an audiobook in my immediate future. I'm working on developing a screenplay for "Knight of Pages" with hopes of bring in money to be able to continue to produce audiobooks. I will post when the situation changes. Thanks for asking. I would love to say yes. But then you'll ask when? Right now, I don't have a good Cin story. I want to be careful with this series. It's too easy to go the easy route. Cin never takes the easy route. Drop me an email at alexieaaronbiz@gmail.com and I'll put you on a list to notify when I'm writing the series again. Thank you so much for asking.

I broke free from the nightmare that kept my feet from running. I burst through the locked door only to find myself in line at the DMV.

This is a very intriguing question. I’ve just finished a first draft of book 22 of the "Haunted Series," and need to pull myself out of my book world, to do my every increasing honey do list. But let’s say that’s finished...
I would travel to the fictional yet oddly true world of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." I really can see me fitting in with the oddities that inhabit Savannah Georgia. I love individuals. No cookie cutter live style for me.

I have two books on the top of my stack. Mark Hodder's "The Strange Affair of Spring-Heeled Jack and Preston & Child's "The Obsidian Chamber." I don't read when I'm writing, so, on my next brief break, I hope to finish Mark's book and then bask in the Pendergast novel of Preston & Child's. I have been saving these books for a day on the front porch with a picture of lemonade, and of course a stack of cookies.

This is a very interesting question. I pull so much from my own life when I write the three series. I left home at eighteen and married my high school sweetheart. I look at his coming into my life as a rescue. I really didn't like living were I grew up. He took me on a magical journey to North Carolina courtesy of the Marine Corps. From that point on every day was an adventure, a mystery to solve. In New Bern there is a reconstruction of a former state house called Tryon Palace. When we visited it, something strange happened to me. We were entering the servants' attic and I felt as if I was an empty glass being filled. I smelled smoke and lots of screaming filled my ears. I turned to my husband and pleaded to leave. Once in the garden the screaming stopped. What happened there before the place burned? I think there's a book there. Although, I suspect it has been already written.

Amelia and Emerson in Elizabeth Peter's (Barbara Michaels) Amelia Peabody Mysteries. They are my favorite because they aren't perfect. They have arguments like everyone else. Emerson respects and fears Amelia's impulsiveness. Amelia looks at Emerson like he is the only man in the world. She doesn't see his faults, she sees them as his strengths. Plus, they are equals in a time when it wasn't common to be so. Bravo!

(view spoiler)[Mia is a very complex character to write. In the "The Hauntings of Cold Creek Hollow" she was just emerging out of a self-imposed prison. She lacked social graces, and although attractive, had few experiences being "sought after." She lacked self-esteem. I decided to take her on a journey some late bloomers, male and female, may have gone through.
In the beginning, I had to ignore the comments about her bed hopping and "man of the investigation," in order to have her mature and realize that the person she belonged with wasn't your typical hero. As a writer you have to listen to your characters. Mia needed to be appreciated for who she was right now, not molded into what she could be, or worse, should be.
Did I plot it out? I always had someone in mind, but I didn't want to show my cards too early. I wanted the reader to get to know the individual first. By "Sand Trap" there were signs. In the two following novellas, "Eternal Maze" and "Homecoming," I highlighted this individual, and by the heart breaking "Darker than Dark," I was ready. I chose this title for more than the creatures that crawled out of the woodwork, I also wanted to emphasize the darker sides of some characters. What brought them to this point? Was it there all along? Were they influenced by incidents along the way? In some cases it was paranormal, in others, established personality traits.
Reading the series from the beginning - aside from spotting some typos, ugh - you're going to be aware of undercurrents that you may have missed. Also, you'll see that in some places even the author was lead on a merry chase.
I hope this answered your question. Enjoy.

Thank you Mary! As long as the muse is flowing and the stories honor Mia, Murphy and PEEPs I'll write the series. It's fun for me to write and a challenge to keep fresh.

Yes, there are many more novels and novellas planned for the "Haunted Series." I am working on number twelve "Mind Fray" of the novels right now. Expect it early October.

I haven't exactly been faced with a traditional writer's block situation. However, if I am stumped during the process of writing a book, I head for the shower, or take a bath, or wash the dishes. Water inspires me.

The best thing about being a writer is that I am blessed with the opportunity to entertain my readers. And I get to go to work in my pajamas.

Write. Look at the world around you. Dig into the cracks and the cushions of the couches. Write about what you've found. Also, realize even editors need someone else to look their work over. No one is perfect. Forgive yourself for mistakes or 'dud' books. Those beautiful 'perfect' classics had a team of editors and copy editors behind them. Above all if you aren't enjoying it, don't do it. It shows.

Book eleven of the PEEPs series. I don't have a title yet which isn't unusual. This book I decided to put in things that scare me.

I'm a middle child, and I pretty much used my imagination to entertain myself when the others were engaged with their friends. The habits of my youth continued through out my adult years. You can still see me in airports, dentist offices, and such, sitting there with a wry smile on my face stuck in my head. Sometimes it just takes the way a sunbeam crosses the magazine laid table to set me off on a PEEPs adventure.

I've become addicted to HGTV DIY shows. Often disturbing an old house with renovations brings out echoes of the past. I thought I'd bring out some of my own.
