Hi Sharon,
Thank you for connecting and thank you for posting reviews for Home. I'm grateful!
If I've suffered from anxiety, it is only in small doses. But perhaps, I've struggled enough to have an inkling of how debilitating an anxiety disorder can be and how it can impact one's life. In both my last novel, Flames, and now Home, I explored anxiety issues--panic attacks in Flames and OCD in Home. I have fought against symptoms of PTSD since childhood and there are links between PTSD and anxiety, certainly.
My prayer with each book I write is to offer hope to those who struggle.

I take a break. Walk away from the manuscript and do something completely unrelated to writing. Sometimes I go shopping. Other times I'll go for a walk. Just a few hours away usually helps clear my mind. If I'm still stuck, I'll read a writer whose work has inspired my own creativity in the past.

Not having to put on makeup or decide what to wear in the morning. If I want to work wearing my pajamas, I do. :-) Although, most days I do get dressed.

Read great writing! We learn so much as writers by reading, both in the genres we want to write, and outside those genres. Also, I highly recommend having your work critiqued by a professional. Critique groups and partners are great, but to make sure your work is ready for review by an agent or editor, hire a professional and learn from the critique they offer. As a writing coach, I've seen writers hone their craft and take their work to the next level over and over following critiques and instruction. Writing well takes work and investment.

I've written sample chapters for a new novel. The working title is Chosen. I'm still playing with the idea and tweaking the sample chapters. It's the story of a well-known and respected leader in the American church who is suffering a medical crisis that challenges not only her life, but also her faith.

I'm often inspired to write by reading the writings of other authors. Nothing encourages my creativity like a well written novel with a creative plot line and deep characters. When inspiration is lacking, caffeine and chocolate help keep me going.

This question is answered in my letter to readers in the back of Home. But here's the short answer: I was in the car with a dear friend who asked me a question. I pondered the question for a long time and eventually it led to the "what if" question that is the seed of so many novels.
