I’ve always been a romantic, having married my high school sweetheart almost thirty years ago. I’m also an avid Hallmark movie viewer, Nicholas Sparks reader, gazebo lover, and happily-ever-after believer. While I created this delicious escape with relatable characters to root for and invest in, I aspired to instill hope and ignite change in my readers. They were at the heart of each written word. And who doesn’t love a small town setting with white picket fencing, stretches of untampered beach, and the winding road not taken? Throw in an unusual inheritance and an emerald-eyed guy next door, and you have the perfect mix of excitement and drama.

Being a storyteller provides a cathartic distraction from real life. I can strategically place my characters’ footprints throughout the journey, determining their strengths and adversities and ensuring the right ending. I love that sense of freedom and control.

The mystery of my disappearing reading glasses that play hide-and-seek (and win). I begin each morning with at least a half dozen pairs displayed on my desk. By lunch, they are all--poof--gone! How do they end up in the washing machine? On the refrigerator shelf next to a brown half-eaten avocado? On top of my bird's cage beside his messy sunflower seeds? Imagine my surprise when I find them on my head, holding back my hair. Even more troubling, I sometimes discover that I'm wearing a missing pair! For all the sleuths out there trying to crack this unsolved case, no worries... I buy my glasses at the dollar store, so there's plenty more where they came from!

Don’t allow fear of failure or negativity to steal your creativity. There is no time limit to achieve your aspirations, so enjoy the writing journey, and never put a period where there should be a comma!
