The blood was dripping from his hands as he pulled the man's tongue straight out of his mouth, and began chewing it. He nearly spit out the flesh when the man stood up, smiled, walked away.

The book that I am working on now is based on the phenomenon of ocean-fermented wines. This is a niche product that lends itself well to shrouds of secrecy. What is the wine really worth? What if the bottles aren't really full of wine, but something else? What if the bottles are being used as the vehicle for a money laundering business? What if they are the subject of a far more nefarious activity? Any and all can be true!

Writing is not only therapeutic for me, it's an outlet I can walk away from when I get burned out, or overwhelmed by the task of producing something that readers will enjoy. I can return to it when I am ready. The same is true for promoting the final product. I can throw myself into an initial release, but then a year later I might find myself promoting one of the books all over again.

I am fortunate to live by the Pacific Ocean and a rigorous hiking trail next to it. If I am stuck on how to advance my work, I'll go on a hike with the aim to focus on the part that needs further development. Nearly every time I come home exhausted, but with the necessary inspiration to keep going.

I’ve been very fortunate to have a career involving international travel, which often put me in ambiguous situations, such as walking across the border from Israel to Egypt, or traveling through Saudi Arabia. Many of the experiences I’ve had ended up in my novels because after all, it is those things that actually happened that are the most believable, and also the most entertaining.

Richard O'Brien finds himself diving into the world of wine, specifically ocean-fermented wines, which are illegal to manufacture in the U.S. but legal in other parts of the world. The high cost of these wines makes the FBI suspicious that the products are a vehicle for money laundering. Richard suspects what is in the bottles may not be wine at all. We follow him, and the bottles, as they travel the world, with Richard racing against time to capture the person who is behind the scheme that nobody seems to really understand, but that everybody believes is patently dangerous.
