I'm loving the Ben Packard character and also the first two books. Do you intend to write a stand alone novel in the future?
Joshua Moehling Hi Chuck. I'm glad you're enjoying the books. Thank you. I have a couple ideas for stand alone books that I'm anxious to work on. There's an option to write one in my current contract. When I'll get to it and when it will come out is TBD at this point. Thanks for the question.

Do you have to read this series in order?
Joshua Moehling Hi Tenaya. Reading them in order is ideal. I know a lot of people found WHERE THE DEAD SLEEP (the 2nd book) and read it without having read AND THERE HE KEPT HER and were fine. I would definitely read WTDS before A LONG TIME GONE comes out in February 2025. Thanks for the question!

I just finished Where The Dead Sleep and am looking forward to the third book. But I wanted to know what happened to the nurse from the first book? He just vanished. I was hoping he and been would be together in book 2.
Joshua Moehling Hi James. Thanks for the question. It wasn't meant to be with the nurse. Packard's search for what he wants in a partner and a relationship (and whether he wants one or feels worthy of one) is an ongoing question across the books. Can't tie him down to one guy too early in the series. Spoiler alert: I wouldn't look for the drummer in WTDS in the third book.

Will there be a book 3 in the Ben Packard series??
Joshua Moehling Hi Alyssa. Book 3 is written and in the can. It won't be out until Feb 4 2025. I'm writing Book 4 in the meantime.

I love these books. I worked in a Police Dept. and I knew a young man in Packard's position and as far as I know, I was the only one he told he was gay. I look forward to many more books about Packard. Can you please explain what a pull-tab is when you talk about them opening a bar with pull-tabs? I assume you're not talking about pull tabs used to open cans of beer? Is this a game of chance perhaps? Thank You.
Joshua Moehling Ila, thanks for this comment and question. I'm not surprised he wasn't more out. Police departments can be very conservative institutions. In MN pull-tabs are charitable gambling. A lot of the money raised goes to fund youth sports or community programs. Here's a video that shows what pull-tabs look like. I'm referring to the paper ones in my book. No question but just wanted to say I loved "And There He Kept Her." What a great book. Doesn't hurt that it takes place in the great state of Minnesota. Born and raised here and it is the best. How many books do you think you will have in the series?
Joshua Moehling Hi Amber. I missed this question. Sorry for the late response. I currently have contracts for four books with my publisher. I hope there will be many more. Time will tell.

Do you plan on publishing a sequel to 'And There He Kept Her'? I loved it and thought the ending obviously hinted at one, but is there one in the works?
Joshua Moehling Yes! The second Ben Packard book is written. It'll be out next summer. Working on the third one as we speak. Thanks for the question, David.
