I have a half-brother and sister from my father's first marriage that I've never met. I've searched for them but never found them. I often wonder why that is, what would make them impossible to find? Why can I find my brother's birth certificate in public records but not my sister and any record of their lives? This wondering has so many open plot ideas that I already drafted in my head, maybe someday I'll write them down. Maybe someday I'll find them. Who knows...

Write, don't edit. Stop re-reading what you have already written and fine tuning and write the rest of the story. Don't worry if it is good, don't worry if you need to fill in missing plot points just get it down and out of you. That other stuff you can work through on your first re-write. When someone gave me this advise it was my turning point from being an aspiring author to a published author.

I sat down and started writing and what came out was my relationship with my husband. Our crazy direct banter and the fact that we are both social awkward at times. My biggest critic and fan, my daughter, says it is the best thing I've written yet.

Normally when I'm stuck on a project it is because I'm having difficulty connecting with my character. To fix this I brainstorm on paper about who that character is, ask them questions to find out what I think they should be. This usually helps me better understand their motivations and then I can get back to writing. My biggest block with writing is finding and making time. I never really have a problem putting words on the page, but sometimes I do have issues finding the right words.

I'm working on edits for Falling Beyond Dreams which is available for pre-order now and will go live on September 30th. I'm also working on story boarding for book 4 in my series Portland Lovers, I'm really excited to get to write again after this next round of edits.
