Nancy Wakeley Walking through my garden at midnight used to bring me a sense of peace and a calming of my soul. But that night, that chilled and soaking night of blackness, my soul became a rancid, curdled thing and it was no longer my own.
Nancy Wakeley I have just finished "The Lost Queen" by Signe Pike. Not my usual genre but it was an amazing read! Also, now reading "Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe" by Heather Webber and loving it so far!
Nancy Wakeley I heard a very prolific writer say on a virtual event where she was being interviewed say this: If you have writer's block, you probably made a mistake in the last 10-20 pages; go back and find it and you will be able to get started again! For myself, this is true but sometimes I will go ahead to another critical spot in the story and just write that part--helps me at least get some writing done!
Nancy Wakeley Seeing your own words on paper, in an actual book and hearing from readers that they loved what you wrote! It is one of the most gratifying experiences ever!
Nancy Wakeley Write--write poetry, write short stories, take a creative writing class and write from prompts--get the juices flowing before you sit down to write "your book"! Second to that, but so important, is read all you can!
Nancy Wakeley I am working on a second Kate Tyler novel. Kate is a travel blogger and she visits England in this book--can't give away the plot but there are some mysterious things going on! She can't seem to get away from her past!
Nancy Wakeley I love to read, I love great books, good storytelling, inspirational words and vivid imagery and simply have the desire to put my own words down on paper. So sometimes inspiration comes from reading the wonderful words of other writers.
Nancy Wakeley The reason behind "Heirloom (A Kate Tyler novel) was two-fold. First, since it was my first book I wanted to see if I could do it! Second, I wanted to "write what I knew" as the saying goes for writers. So some of the ways I dealt with feelings of loss after losing my own sister many years ago came through in parts of the book. The book is not about that sad event but definitely influenced Kate's journey as she also heals.
