If by working with a few writing prompts hasn't helped then I take a different approach by doing something different. I try not to concentrate on the blank page but will take a walk in the woods, or drive through the country, or pick up a book and just read. Sometimes, I'll watch something on Netflix or Amazon Prime and I won't even finish it because it's helped my mind loosen up enough that I'm now ready to write. I also find that sometimes a hot bath or shower has helped clear my mind, too. Many an ending to a story has come while in the shower!

The best thing about being a writer? Escaping to another world. I can be an expert skier gliding down the icy slopes of the Matterhorn. I can commander a ship and explore the Milky Way or Jupiter's moons. Or I can pick up a sword and strike down my enemies and then ride off into the sunset on a dragon. Being a writer allows me to travel to places one only dreams of!

I'm sure you've heard this before... but just write. Make time for yourself and for your craft. Carve out at least a half hour each day to make an outline, edit, or write from a prompt. If you can write more, even better.
And READ! I'm amazed how many writers claim that they don't have time to read. Are you kidding me? The best authors are the authors who are also avid readers and read not just from their own genre but are open to reading other genres as well. A good reader makes a better writer.

Currently, I'm working on two projects. One is a Space Opera type anthology through Skullgate Media. In this anthology, 24 authors worked together through a series of prompts to build our world.
My other project is a YA Fantasy where a teen boy is accused of murdering the prince.

I usually start with a writing prompt on Twitter from either #vss365 or #LilLuvStory or #achtenwrite just to name a few. Writing prompts help me to get in the writing mood and gets the creative juices to flow. I also find that when I walk in the woods near my home I come up with some of my best ideas. I think the silence of the rest of the world and sounds of the forest propels me into a different world. By the time I finish my walk, I'm ready to write!

When I wrote L'escritoire, which appears in the anthology, Loathsome Voyages, I was sitting at my desk thinking about the scrolls on the legs of the desk and the color of the stain. Then, I thought, what if the color of the stain was from someone's blood? And the story just came to me, just like that. My writing desk is NOT made with the blood of anyone (at least not that I know of). But it is a replica of an antique writing desk.
