Natasha Tracy Hi Don,

If you read "Lost Marbles", you'll see that in the Appendices, there are treatment algorithms that can help you make treatment decisions. You may wish to review that to make sure you covered all the medication combinations that might work in your case.

As for treatments outside of medication, you may want to look into repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) or electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Because both of these work differently than medications, you may have more success with them.

Please read this for a comparison of the two: https://natashatracy.com/treatment/ne...

Make sure you get _all_ your questions answered before you move forward with either of these treatments.

Also, if you haven't had a chance to get cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), make sure you do that too.

Good luck. I know where you are and I know how desperate it can feel.

Natasha Tracy Hi Liz,

I have had ECT, but only nine treatments. Mine, too, were discontinued due to lack of effectiveness. I can tell you that memory loss around the time of the treatments is pretty normal. Continuing short-term memory loss isn't, though. I think it should be mentioned that mental illness itself can negatively affect memory -- I know it does mine.

That said, 36 treatments is a fair number and if it was decades ago, it was likely bilateral treatments, which is harder on memory.

No matter why you are experiencing memory symptoms, I'm sorry. I know that's really hard.

Natasha Tracy Hi, thanks so much for your offer. I just don't think it's a book for me but I do wish you well with it.
Natasha Tracy Well, right now I'm working on getting the paperback version of "Lost Marbles" out as quickly as possible. I'm hoping to get it out in the next week.

After that, though, it's hard to say. There was so much more I wanted to say in "Lost Marbles" that I just had to cut due to length. Specifically talking to loved ones of those with mental illness might be the overall subject for the next book, though.
Natasha Tracy That is one of my favorite quotations of all time. :) It says more about my life than many, many philosophers even could.
