A few ways. One is music - Mainly Christian (tobymac). I'm also a songwriter, and songs speak to me in a way that no other form of writing can.
When I'm really blocked, I go back and read all that I had written up to that point. That brings me back into the story, and puts me back into the character's shoes.
The #1 necessity when writing fiction is that you have to be in the story. You have to live, breathe, feel what you're writing. Otherwise, it won't be a real, believable story.

My inspiration comes from the Lord, and from knowing that, if it is His will, He will give me the strength to finish the good work He started in me.

If you desire to write a book, you need to realize a few things first off:
a) You're not doing it for you or your glory. This is for the glory of God, and if you don't feel it is, you're never going to find any true purpose in doing it.
b) It is going to be HARD. Not level-10-of-a-video-game-hard, but the kind of hard that is going to make you wish you'd never started.
If you can take that, you can write :)
c) Writing is going to be the greatest thing that ever happened to you, and it's going to change your life :)

I had been writing for five years, trying to finish a book, and failing. One night, when I was particularly hopeless, I laid everything down, and told the Lord that I wasn't going to try anymore. That I was no longer going to pursue a career as an author, or publishing a book. I said that I did not choose myself, my life, or my career. I chose Him. I chose to follow Him and His will for my life, and if that meant I would never be published, never become an author, then I would accept that.
He answered me with "The Hidden Soul".
And if that wasn't amazing enough, He then handed me a sequel, "Soul Set Free."
The idea itself came on Palm Sunday 2016, when watching various renditions of the Passion on TV. I realized that of all the versions of the Greatest Story Ever Told, there was one point-of-view that had never really been shown:
Through the eyes of the man who crucified Jesus.
From there, God pretty much just handed me a story of a Roman soldier, who embarks on an adventure to find salvation.
And that kind of ended in a published book. :)

Currently I just finished "Soul Set Free", and I am currently building an online course for aspiring writers. It's not up yet, but if you would like to be alerted, you can subscribe at www.fiction4hisglory.com.
And, (spoiler), While it won't be anytime very soon, there just might be a book 3 in the "Roman Soul" series. Shhh! :)

The best thing about being a writer is knowing that the words you typed are actually being read by others, and that somewhere, someone might actually be inspired by your words. I have been blessed to receive responses that readers actually have been inspired, and I am so blessed to be used by God in such an amazing way.
