Rae Louise I've just finished my second book, "Metas". Release date TBC but here's a short blurb:

When justice becomes revenge, a monster is born ...
After the unsolved murder of her teenage sister, Violet Kendal spirals down a path of violence and self-destruction. A group of mysterious individuals lead her into a nightmare world, where she encounters a force more primal than man itself. As past secrets unfold, they bring her closer to the truth of how her life is connected to Isabelle’s death. Will Violet bury the monster inside her or use it to exact bloody revenge?

No werewolves but inspired by two of my favourite films: "Ginger Snaps" and "The Descent".
Rae Louise I've been interested in the paranormal for as long as I can remember, so the 'haunted house' tales have always been a favourite. Ironically, this had nothing to do with my inspiration behind The Fear. The clue is in the title - and the more psychological aspects of the book. Anxiety disorders can make being trapped within the four walls of a house terrifying enough, without the presence of a demonic entity! While the foundations of a traditional ghost story are there, I wanted to throw in other elements to make it something altogether different. It's a popular basis for so many books and films, of which I didn't feel it necessary to add to. Perhaps that meant taking a risk, especially as The Fear hits that border between mainstream and extreme horror; but hopefully there's something for everyone.
Rae Louise Write the kind of novel that you'd want to read, even if that means taking a risk. Unique stands out whether people love it or hate it; every author gets mixed reactions. Get your work professionally edited if possible, whether you plan on self-publishing or going down the traditional route and seeking an agent; otherwise, there's tons of advice on writing websites and blogs. Proofread until your eyes bleed. Start networking early on and spread the word about your project to build interest and, hopefully, a readership - which I never did (whoops). Do NOT give up!
Rae Louise Nope, I never even contemplated a sequel. It was tough for me to write, I had a lot of things in my head that needed to come out. So it's one of "those" endings, I'm afraid - sorry! :-)
Rae Louise Yes, I'm currently working on my second novel, Metas. It has a different tone to The Fear and is more 'hack and slash' than supernatural. Horror has so many sub-genres to experiment with! I have also co-written a book with Texan horror author, C. Derick Miller. This is a non-fiction piece based on a decade of his personal journals, exploring the dangerous but eye-opening world of paranormal research. As a believer, I've always wanted to work on something like this so it was an opportunity that I couldn't pass up. There isn't a release date as of yet, but for anyone who's curious about what lurks on the other side of our reality, it's definitely a project to look out for!
Rae Louise I'm quite fortunate in the fact that writer's block doesn't seem to affect me. I'm constantly being inspired by everything around me: conversations, television, things I see and hear. Ideas are always flowing and I burn my way through notepads like fire. I might occasionally get stumped over minor things, like finding the right descriptive word to use or making a sentence or paragraph fit together. I also tend to get lost in plotting, but usually taking a break from writing allows me to look at everything with fresh eyes and I wonder what all the fuss was about.
Rae Louise Gomez and Morticia. Their bond is as eternal as the soul, and freaky is fabulous.
