Marie Silk Thank you for your question. I like to include as much as real history as possible and then have my characters experience the events. I build the historical timeline directly into the chapter outline. This helps me stay organized with historical dates and events. I hope this helps :).
Marie Silk I would go to the chocolate factory in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I would be on my best behavior during the tour, thus becoming heir to the chocolate factory. Then I would eat everything.
Marie Silk Hi Renee, thank you for the question! I would describe the Davenport House series as more of a Victorian melodrama, but some reviewers have described it as Gothic :).
Marie Silk The idea came from American History :). My most recent book, Davenport House 5: For the Cause, involves social issues of the early 1900's, including women's voting equality and America's role in WWI.
Marie Silk Sorry, I cannot help with a review. There are many readers who volunteer to be reviewers on goodreads, but it takes time to find them. My advice would be to search out goodreads groups who read in your genre and see if any readers are offering to review. Sometimes these groups will have an "Author Section" where authors may promote their books and/or request reviews. The rules for authors are usually posted there. Good luck :).
Marie Silk Hi Maria :) I have included some ideas in my answer to your previous question. They can all be done for free :). My advice is to not spend any more money on marketing until you try them out. There will be a cost for a goodreads giveaway for sending your books to the winners. My advice is to offer 2 books to winners within your country to keep down postage costs. Your blurb looks strong and your cover looks professional, both of which are crucial to gaining readers. Wishing you the best of luck!
Marie Silk Hi Maria :) I looked at your profile to see your book but noticed that you have not claimed it with an author page yet. That is probably step 1. Go to the "author program" tab at the very bottom of any goodreads page. It will tell you how to claim your book and get the most out of being an author on goodreads. Goodreads giveaways are a great way to get exposure for your book. Readers also like to see reviews on a book before they try it, so finding reviewers is an important step. Look for book review blogs online that review your genre and see if they are taking submissions. There are groups on Goodreads who host read and review programs for some authors. It is just a matter of finding the right one for your genre and following the rules about asking for reviews.
Marie Silk Hello Denise :) There are 10 pages of useful marketing info here on what has been working for authors and what hasn't, as well as which methods seem to bring the best Return on Investment. I have seen very few authors say that FB ads are effective, as opposed to the many authors who have paid for FB ads without success. The same seems true of GR and Amazon ads. I have not tried these ads myself, but am only recalling what others have said. I hope you find something that works well for your book :).
