(view spoiler)[That is a great question! In the original context, Berengar is referring to himself; his time with Morwen and Ravenna has helped him put aside dwelling on his own murderous misdeeds. However, for those who've finished the book and are re-reading it, the line in question is meant to take on another meaning. I hope that clears things up. We actually considered removing the line during the editing process but it ended up making it into the book.

Thanks for the question! Two more Warden of Fál books (books 5 and 6) will complete the series. Right now the last book is titled "The Lord of Shadows."
I've been contracted by a publisher to write a prequel trilogy about how High Queen Nora came to power. I plan to write the last two Warden books after that trilogy is complete. In the meantime, I have some more Warden short stories (like The Path of Vengeance and The Heart of Magic) I'll be releasing to hold Warden readers over.

Hi Janice! I'm so glad you enjoyed Bride. As it happens, I planned to do a whole 'Bride' series, featuring other monsters (including Dracula). I have completed a standalone"Part One" of the Dracula's Bride book. It's unedited, but I would be happy to email it to you, as it may take some time before the book itself is released.

Thanks for saying hi! I live in Taylor County, KY, and my dad was from Metcalfe County. My first book, The Keeper of the Crows, is set in Kentucky, and so is its sequel.

Great question! The classic monster stories have always captured my imagination. From Frankenstein to Dracula and more, these stories have stood the test of time and are being constantly reinvented with each retelling. With Bride, I wanted to to try my hand at a fresh take on such a classic story, while still remaining true to the original characters and themes that have proved so powerful and enduring.

I knew right away that I wanted this to be a fast-paced novel, more than any of my others. Some of my favorite books have forced me to keep reading all the way through, even late into the night when I was exhausted. My goal was to do something similar with this story. I intentionally shortened the chapter lengths and tried to end most chapters with a gripping cliffhanger. I also incorporated a lot of twists and turns in the book meant to keep the reader guessing. Hopefully it paid off!

I don't want to jinx myself, but I've never really had writer's block. I have the opposite problem--I get too many ideas at once. For each manuscript I complete, two (or three) more ideas rise up to take its place like a multi-headed hydra. My list of book ideas is currently somewhere north of fifty, but I think that's a good problem to have.

The best advice is simple--write!
There's a lot that goes into a published book: editing, submitting to agents and publishers, working with the publisher to create a finished product, and marketing and publicizing the book. But you can't do any of that until you have a completed manuscript.
The good news is the more you write, the easier it becomes. You develop a feel for narrative structure, dialogue, and characters. The Keeper of the Crows, my first published book, was my FOURTH finished manuscript. It took me that many tries to get to the point where I was ready for publication--and I'm still growing as a writer.
