Honestly, many things fire up my brain. Reading history, clinical or scientific articles, gaming, or watching sci-fi. I also like to share my knowledge as I was recently interviewed (no photo shoot) for the May issue of Penthouse Magazine regarding veteran suicide and engagement on that level helps me become a better writer.

My next work will be a simple and brief how to guide to the U.S. Army for civilians and those wanting to join the military. I have also spent the last few weeks doing media interviews and public speaking engagements to raise awareness for the War Writer's Campaign. I will be launching a blog in the next few weeks as well.

You first book will be simply breaking rocks. Dont worry yourself with finesse or wording. Just write and get everything out until you cant add one more thing, then focus on editing and flow. It doesnt matter how well the work does commercially; remember that it will be someone's favorite book!

For me, my first book was a memoir about my time as a soldier at war so it felt good to have a positive reception from my fellow troops. I feel my work is unique as too many books about war are ego or agenda driven rather than giving an honest view from the ground. To have the proceeds benefit veteran organizations like the War Writer Campaign it feels great to give back and help groups like this forward the cause of veterans in America.

I really dont fight it. I will write whatever I feel like writing. If I feel like writing a review for a product or a blog entry then that is what I do. It doesnt matter what you are writing, as long as you keep writing. It becomes a problem when you stop.
