Sherlock and Watson are the perfect couple: never married, no kisses exchanged (as far as we know), but they interact like lovers, defending each other, squabbling, joking, putting up with bad habits with saintly patience, and sometimes finishing each other's sentences.

Denise:
I'm more of a go-with-the-flow-of-the-words kind of writer. Thus far, I haven't sat down and sketched out a formal plot outline for my novels before I've begun--other than the vague, fuzzy shape in my head which tells me where I generally want the story to go. I like to be surprised along the way.
Sometimes, as with "Fobbit" and my as-yet-unpublished Hollywood satire "Dubble," I will outline the plot *after* I get a draft done. I'll go back over what I've written and make timelines and connect the dots between characters and plot points--but mostly as a matter of making sure there are no inconsistencies.

Sean-Patrick:
I am marvelously inconsistent in my writing habits lately. Between blogging (at The Quivering Pen) and working my regular 40-hour-a-week Day Job, my creative writing time gets squeezed down to mere slivers of time. So, with that in mind, I don't have any set goals of minutes or word counts when I do manage to make the time for these short, sharp creative outbursts. A really good day will see me harvesting 2,000 words; other days might see me producing only one or two sentences. Oddly enough, those single-sentence days are sometimes the most satisfying for me.
I generally begin my day at the keyboard--whether it's working on my novel, writing a blog post, or just falling into the internet's rabbit hole--at 4:30 a.m. and finish up somewhere around 7:30 or 8.

I am currently working on another novel set in Iraq. It's a little more serious in nature than the satirical "Fobbit," but addresses many of the same themes: war, authority, and identity. The plot in a nutshell: Six soldiers make their way on foot across Baghdad on an odyssey to attend the memorial service for their platoon sergeant, recently killed in an IED attack.
UPDATE: After writing this answer all those years ago, I realized I didn't come back with the followup: The aforementioned novel set in Iraq was published in August 2017 as BRAVE DEEDS: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
