☯Emily Ginder It's time for April's nominations. I would like for us to have a little challenge this month. Please select a book with a NUMBER, COLOR, or a DIRECTION in the title. It can be from any genre as long as it meets the challenge. The author must be a woman and have published before 1977. The nominations are limited to two per person. Please state whether or not you can lead the discussion.

You are not required to nominate only novels, but can nominate non-fiction, poetry, plays and short stories.

Your nominations cannot have been read by the group in the past three years. You can check our bookshelf here: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

Nominations will end on February 12.

Laura North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell

(South Riding by Winifred Holtby - although I suspect it's been read in recent years.)

To the North - Elizabeth Bowen.

Laura Also - Hour of Gold, Hour of Lead: Diaries and Letters, 1929-1932

Maybe Ellen wants to re-nominate? And someone else also voted for it in December's nomination and votes.

It's not my nomination - but just a reminder to other members - who might want to include it - it fits nicely into the category.

☯Emily Ginder Anisha, we just recently read Frankenstein. Also, please include author's name since it helps in case there are similar titles.

Laura, please nominate only two books. Since this group has read South Riding twice, I have removed it from the list. Ellen is free to nominate Hour of Gold if she wishes, but I will not include it in the books for voting unless she or someone else does so.

Laura Yes of course - my S. Riding was provisional.

Laura Mela voted for Hour of Gold, Hour of Lead: Diaries and Letters, 1929-1932 in December - I just think it's nice to go back and review books that didn't win, but some people were actually interested to read. I think people nominate books they have on their shelves - do it does make sense to "recycle" the nominations and votes etc. ?

☯Emily Ginder Ellen wrote: "I'm happy to renominate Hour of Gold, Hour of Lead: Diaries and Letters, 1929-1932 by Anne Morrow Lindbergh."

Thanks.

☯Emily Ginder It is now time to vote for the book you want to read in April. The following books have been nominated:

1. Born Free: A Lioness of Two Worlds by Joy Adamson
2. To the North by Elizabeth Bowen
3. The Seven Dials Mystery by Agatha Christie
4. North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
5. 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff
6. The Land of Green Ginger by Winifred Holtby
7. Hour of Gold, Hour of Lead: Diaries and Letters, 1929-1932 by Anne Morrow Lindbergh
8. The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
9. The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy
10. The Red Lamp by Mary Roberts Rinehart
11. Miss Plum and Miss Penny by Dorothy Evelyn Smith
12. A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf

We have a lot of nominations this month which creates a "good" problem. We might not be able to agree on what to read. Therefore, I have made an executive decision to allow each eligible member to vote for TWO books.

Who is an eligible member? All members who contribute (comment) in the monthly book discussions anytime during the past year is eligible to vote.

The following can presently vote. However, the last person listed will be removed from eligibility next month.
