message 256: by T.M. (new)

T.M. Wallace Hello everyone! I'm from Canada, though most of my family is from England and Scotland. It's nice to meet other people who love cozy mysteries. I grew up reading Phyllis A. Whitney and Agatha Christie and though I read other genres, cozy mysteries are my go-to genre for relaxing with a good cup of tea. I am a retired teacher and now write books as well as read them for fun.

message 257: by Dana (new)

Dana Hi everyone, my name is Dana. I am from the Pacific NW and I have been an avid reader since I was a child. I love cozy mysteries and am a sucker for a great series. I am hoping to learn about some knew authors and new series to add to my reading list.
Cheers!

Welcome, Mychi! I'm fairly new to cozies myself. One of the authors that really got me started on cozy mysteries is Isabella Alan who also writes as Amanda Flower.

I love Jenn McKinlay's Library Lover series. But there are many threads here in this group that can lead you to other good series as well.

Happy New Year, Josje!
I first started a few years ago with Joanne Fluke, too. I found Cleo Coyle soon after and love that series. It's one of my favorites. My top author still is Jerrilyn Farmer. Her catering series is hilarious.

Jennifer

message 264: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Hi everyone! I joined this group awhile back but haven't been active, mostly using Goodreads to keep track of and review the books I've read. Cozies are my go-to genre, though I also read some historical fiction, YA, women's lit, and romance. Mary Daheim was my introduction to the cozy world and now, thanks to social media, my TBR list is out of control!

message 265: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Hi everyone! I am Tammy and I am from Massachusetts. I just recently jumped on the Cozy Mysteries train and quickly became addicted to them. I love how they are --well--cozy. I started with the Miracles of Marble Cove series--I am on #15 Hopes and Dreams (Miracles of Marble Cove) by Susan Page Davis. I also love the ones related to books, librarians and writing. I just put 2 of the books the group is currently reading on hold at my library. :-) By Book or By Crook (Lighthouse Library Mystery #1) and
Elementary, She Read (A Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery #1)
by Vicki Delany.
I read most anything. I don't really like to read romances but if it a good book and one happens to pop up I can deal. I like mysteries and suspense, Christian fiction and Historical fiction. I also like Regency fiction--I think that is what it is called--like books by Julie Klassen.
I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Tammy

Since you like mysteries and Christian fiction, you might try the following authors:
Terri Blackstock, Dee Henderson, and Irene Hannon. Their mysteries are not necessarily "cozy," but all three write Christian mysteries/suspense, which have little violence, no foul language, and no explicit sexual content. I have enjoyed reading the mysteries of all three authors.

Hi everyone,

After quite some time (due to writing in another genre), I'm back to Cozy Mysteries and am hoping to meet and chat with other authors and readers. I am looking forward to hearing from you. I live in Arizona, love cooking and photography, have two Schnauzers, and spend most of my time writing. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

message 274: by Avaanthikha (new)

Avaanthikha Hello to all! I, from India, being a teenager love mystery novels especially those of Agatha Christie. I don't feel as though I could lay down a mystery novel unless I have uncovered the mystery.I am eager to read more in this genre.

message 275: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Meadows Hi everyone, I'm a huge fan of cozy mysteries and am in the middle of reading several different series. My favorites include Joanne Fluke baking mysteries and Maggie Sefton Knitting mysteries. I've been in this group a long time, but most of the time I forget to comment.

I wanted to invite all of you to join in on an event that has just been announced on Booktube. It's a month long readathon called #MarchMysteryMadness. There is a Twitter and a separate Goodreads Group. There will also be Instagram challenges announced later. Just search March Mystery Madness on Youtube and you will find lots of announcement videos.

message 277: by Diane (new)

Diane I hope someone can help me. Is there a way to sort READ books by date read and the date that it was posted or read?
Thanks
Diane

message 278: by Tahmina (new)

Tahmina Click on your READ shelf folder. Once on the page click on the column the words DATE READ at the top of the column and it will sort it according to date read chronologically.

hi Diane,

This is the only thing I found on goodreads to explain it. https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/4...

But you're saying it doesn't work. I saw this goodreads group (https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...) and it seems they help you figure out similar problems. You might try posting to them and they will help you figure it out.

message 281: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten I get a message saying that the sorting doesn't work, but it does it anyway.

message 282: by Heather L (new)

message 285: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Hello everyone, I'm Barbara from Melbourne, Australia. I'm an avid reader and always on the lookout for good, new authors. I've always been a big fan of science fiction, horror and fantasy, but in recent years I've embraced crime and mystery and they have become my book of choice for some years. I love a good, thick book, or even better, a sizeable series - the only problem is, getting to the end. Sometimes I ration my reading so I can put off the inevitable finish.

message 286: by Gary (new)

Gary Sundell I'd suggest the Nero Wolfe series, they need not be read in order. The last book written by Rex Stout should be read last though. The series was later continued by Robert Goldsborough with the blessings of Stout's children.

Not cozy but two of the best police procedural series ever written are the 87th Precinct series by Ed McBain and the Luis Mendoza series by Dell Shannon.

message 287: by Beth (new)

Beth Hello and welcome to Barbara, Heather, Elizabeth, Avaanthikha, Sanka, Nickolas, Eileen, Angela, Tammy and anyone else I missed since I last checked this thread!

message 288: by Casey (new)

Casey Certain Hi, I'm Casey. I'm from the US and am an ELA and SS middle school teacher. I also write murder mystery party scripts as a hobby. Some mysteries I enjoy include the Phryne Fisher series, the Sherlock Holmes series, and anything by Agatha Christie or Stieg Larsson. Joined this group in the hopes of finding new books to enjoy and talk about.

message 289: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Welcome, Casey! If you like Phryne Fisher & Agatha Christie, you might like Ngaio Marsh's Inspectory Alleyn series. She's known as New Zealand's Agatha Christie.

Thanks for being a teacher! It is a very important job and can be thankless at times!

message 290: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Hi everyone, I'm Sarah and I'm new to this group and Goodreads in general, but loving it so far!! I saw the description of this group and could relate so well I just had to join :) Mysteries have always been my favourite genre and I'm looking forward to being a part of this group!

Hi Casey, I'm so excited that you like Phryne Fisher - I have loved the books for years (long before they became a TV series), I'm so surprised that anyone outside of Australia has heard of them :)

message 293: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Hi

I'm Matthew, author, copywriter and also reader.

Looking forward to finding something new to read, something light and funny but with an edge.

Been reading a lot of heavy stuff lately, so something light is what I'm after and I find cozy mysteries are great for that.

I run my own copywriting business, so if I'm not reading I'm writing and I also write my own stories too.

message 294: by ☯Emily (new)

I just started a Good Reads group myself called "Get Inspired" and welcome you all to join me in finding what's right with the world in terms of books and life, in general.

Let's get reading!

I also like historical fiction and Christian fiction. I’ve never joined s group like this before. So I look forward to see what it’s all about!

Katie Hi all. My name is Katie and I live in the UK. I’ve always enjoyed mysteries, ever since reading the Secret Seven and the Five Findouters by Enid Blyton.

I enjoy the supernatural and I’ve read most of Charlaine Harris’ books. I loved the Aurora Teagarden series. I recently bought 20 of the Agatha Raisin books from the Book People and have just started the second.
