Gosh, every time I get close to getting ahead of you or catching up, you zoom forward!!!
I was incredibly focused yesterday. PLUS I'm starting FOOL MOON on Monday, so my goal is to finish this before then ;)
Gosh, I need my Lobster to hurry and get back to reading these. He stopped on book three because work AND school got to be too much. I was rereading them with him!
and I'm definitely ready for a re-read!!!
Are you in our group? Buddies Books and Baubles? If not, lemme know, and I'll send you invite. You can reread them vicariously through us ;)
I might be, I'll go check.
Do you know when you'll start book 3? Maybe I can convince him to start it again soon? He has about 3 weeks left of classes for this semester, then one summer class over June/July... so I'm hoping with this semester done, he'll be able to get back to it, as right now he's taking 3 classes AND working full time (class until at least 8 four nights a week! ick!) and doesn't have the time or energy for the book... but a lighter load (and May off completely) might coax him back into it..........
Books 1-5 on weekly intervals, so:
3: 4/20
4: 4/27
5: 5/04
We haven't come up with a plan after that. We're going to knock these out, then see if people want to continue the one per week schedule or reevaluate.
Well, he definitely won't be to book three this month, and I promised I'd read them with him.
But you're going to love them!!!
This is a fantastic book along with its sequel Words of Radiance. It's always cool to randomly encounter other Tennesseeans on here. Rock is one of my favorite characters btw.
WoR focuses less on world-building (but there are still a lot of it) and more on actions. It gives us answers but also many more questions :3
Jessica (Rabid Reads) wrote: "I'm going to die before May when the BR for WoR begins. I can feel it."
I feel you Jessica!! I finished this 3 mths before the release of WoR and it was PAINFUL.
The last 10%:
Sanderson followed a strict formula for the last 10% of his book. It goes like this:
1. What's the worst thing that can happen? Let's do that.
2. How can we make it even worse? Let's do that too.
3. Now let's make it look like---despite overwhelming odds---everything will work out fine.
4. Now let's crush that hope.
Rinse, wash, REPEAT.
TOTALLY THIS!!!
Haha, good review, and an echo of my feelings on the book. Brandon is definitely a Master, and the Stormlight Archives appear to possibly be his magnum opus.

GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH. I honestly can't remember the last time a book messed with me this much. I mean, I shrieked and threw things at the end of Golden Son, but this was a completely different level of involvement. I'm kind of scared of WoR. *whispers* "kind of" is a euphemism for OHMAGAWD-panic. Fyi.
Kat Stark wrote: "this review is amazeballs. though you should know. and he is slow becoming one of my favorite authors as well"
Thanks, Kat! Ordinarily I'd be hesitant to name an author a favorite after a single book, BUT . . . this book had 1000 pages, and should count as more than one (IM humble O), and also . . . just holy fraking crap, man. It was INTENSE.
Mr. Matt wrote: "Great review. I need to read this book. I love stories with moral ambiguity."
Then you will love this one. From the opening scene onward . . . it's constant ;) And thanks!

That's what I'm hearing. I'm both scared of the next book, and resentful that there's only one ;)
I wept b/c my heart could not contain my awe and gratitude and respect for these men, these dregs of society, who one man and one spren had bound together into something so valiant, so courageous, so honorable . .
You completely nailed it! Seriously these are the chapters I can read again and again. Yes they may tend to drag a bit and it may seem like nothing happening but THIS journey was the best of the book for me.
GAHHHHHH. B/c they could've . . . but they didn't . . . they did The Thing instead . . . and AWESOME . . . *head explodes*
I hope you're happy. ;)

That was a very well thought out and coherent statement. Way to use your words Jessica.
Haha...but if you've read it...it makes perfect sense and gah all the feels associated with it.

Oh man, your updates for WoR are going to be sooooooooooo delicious to read :-D
If anything, I thought WoR was actually better (somehow) than WoK, you are in store for an awesome ride!

You guys just don't even realize how difficult you're making it for me to not immediately stop everything and read WoR right-bloody-now. I could do it, you know. I'm rebellious like that. *scoffs at and mocks so-called reading schedule* *but only when Robin isn't looking*

Awww, Robin, a friend of mine and I do that while we watch our shows every week. How fun to have someone to do that with over a book!

I wouldn't really do it. I really want to do it, but the bonds of our book buddy-ness are stronger than that. *sighs forlornly*

Though a stranger, you have persuaded me to read this book. Well ... also this heavy tome is a affordable $9 projectile I can launch at any home intruder. And after it hits the person in the head and knocks them out, I'm going to yell, "Reading is the key to knowledge AND self-defense, bitch!!!" Happy reading.

LOL. Hilarity aside, even though I've never used my copy as a projectile, I can attest to its heft. Home invaders everywhere . . . BEWARE ;)
