Lena Karynn Tesla has a passion for the written word, especially that which takes place in distant and fantastical worlds. She writes books in several speculative fiction sub-genres, including fantasy, dystopian, and science fiction. When she is not writing, she can be found pouring magic elixirs of caffeine for the masses, or exploring the woods with her two prowling cats.

Review: Beatrice Ophelia is Flickering Out, by Megan Gerig

It’s release day for Beatrice Ophelia is Flickering Out, so I thought it would be the perfect day to share my review! 😀

I had the honor of reading an advance copy, and guys, it is such a fun and contemplative read! And you gotta love a good “everyone hated the victim so much they wished they’d done it!” murder mystery 😂

This was such a fun whodunnit, with just the right amount of character growth and

“Writing gets me high on words.”
Lena Karynn Tesla

“Over me hangs a silver canopy of stars, like the diamonds set in chandeliers out East.
But I'd take these stars and the pines stretching tall enough to rake them out of the dark sky over those diamonds any day.
The beautiful stillness of the night overtakes me and my eyes well with tears. There is nothing more beautiful than one's home, one's stars, and the smell of the trees standing like sentinels around the land you love.”
Emily Hayse, The Beautiful Ones

“How shall I fear that from which I am protected by Heaven's wings?”
C.M. Banschbach, Then Comes a Drifter

“Come, then, affliction, if my Father wills, and be my frowning friend. A friend that frowns is better than a smiling enemy. ”
George MacDonald

C.S. Lewis

Why thank you! :)

This is my eighth year. I didn't start until I was nine, so I've been kinda behind most of my life

Theodosia of the Fathomless Hall Ah yes!

Naw...Thanks. I think so too! Except... besides one scene devised while listening to Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries I've less writing than a retired woodchuck. It is not on the top of my priorities, while obfuscating similes are of course.
Lol :D. Well, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much, from the bottom of my heart.

Yes, it's the animal Robin Hood.

I really enjoyed your story, I think it has a lot of potential!! I'd love to read more of it! :)

Theodosia of the Fathomless Hall Naturally!

Of course! Regardless of courtesy, I'm honored to be the first in that category... and... lest I sound like some Bennet or Georgette Heyer it is v. pretty! Random a bit, but a while back I moderated a Harry Potter Role-Play and one of the characters was named Lena Whitewater.

Wonderful! Eh... Not at all. At least it's fairy-tales I disdain from watching! Pirates of the Caribbean, Marvel, and I suppose from its nascent acquisition Star Wars are some of my favorites though. Each to their own!

Oh lovely! (Yes, I guess I am using a whole lot of exclamations and adjectives prefixing those... etc.) Haha, I've only read A.C. Gaughen's "Scarlet" series and disliked 'em. A surfeit of dark-and-edginess.
Ah. And that would be those of the animal Merry Men?
Cool! I hope you enjoy it :).

Right-o. And incidentally I thank you for reading my story! It's a bit rusty, I wrote it last spring, I believe. Good heaven it was that long ago? Anyway-My thanks for reading, liking, it ;).

-Alngravin.

Thank you for accepting! :)

Thank you so much!! I have never had someone compliment my name before!

Yes, I love disney! You?

The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood is awesome! This is the first Robin Hood book I've read (shocking, I know), so it's all pretty new to me (besides what I've seen in the disney version! ;P).

Haha!! I totally understand about keeping your name private!

Lena

Theodosia of the Fathomless Hall Hey Lena!
Thank you for the friend request! I sincerely appreciate it & I'm eagerly awaiting chatting.
I have a few things to pose: One you have a lovely name! It's what I'd expect some such fictional character of merit would have. Two-I presume you like Disney?
Lastly, this is somewhat off-topic. How's "The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood"? I'm sort-of-in-a-way-perhaps-sporadically writing a Robin Hood retelling, so that's why I asked.

Thanks again! Have a good Saturday ;).

-Alngravin (As earlier noted that is not my real name, my actual one I divulge sparingly, and while I don't presume you're actually a machine-gun-toting-red-blooded menace to society [of course!] I prefer to keep my real prenomen under wraps before I get to know someone.)

Eleanor Gustafson Lena, I am absolutely floored that you listed ME among your favorite authors! I'm anxious to hear if that opinion still holds after you read Dynamo--which, you told me, is on your list.THANK YOU!
