“Dad takes a couple of sips of his beer. “Let me tell you, son. Relationships are like fishing. You cast your bait, hoping for that one fish to bite. Once it does, you have to struggle to reel it in. Even when you think you’ve captured it, you can still lose it back to the ocean. Many different circumstances can happen. You lose your balance. A wave knocks the boat. Not until you have it on board, do you know that you have secured your catch. You’ve loved that girl from an early age. She loves you. Give her time, and keep tugging on the line.”

“What’s the big deal? You’re here every day doing shit. At least you can do something useful with your time.” I glare, stone faced.
Poke.
“You entitled bitch,” she snarls.
I chuckle, fighting the urge to groan. I’m turned on by the pink hue of her skin because of her anger. She’s hot. I’m sick to be turned on by this.
I focus on her coral, pouty lips as I hold up my hands and rise from the sofa. “I’m sorry, firecracker, that came out wrong. What I meant to say is you’re here every afternoon, so I just figured instead of helping your mom, you could help me.”

“Are you going to tutor me from over there, or are you going to sit?” I smirk.
She rolls her eyes at my comment.
“Come.” I pat the empty spot next to me.
She blinks and clears her throat. “I didn’t agree to tutor you. You asked a simple question. How did my answer get construed into me tutoring you?” Her face is void of any humor, and she eyes me with a slow burn from top to bottom.
There she is. My cannonball. She never liked me telling her what to do. I see that hasn’t changed.
Too cute.”
