“The more time I spent in the supermarket, the more I realized there was an air of fear about the people around me. Carts rattled as they charged down the aisles, and everyone was eying each other with suspicion. I passed two people shouting at each other as they fought over a bottle of olive oil. The place was like a war zone.”

“As long as you guys are being responsible, I’m happy to see you dating.” My nose crinkled slightly at the word responsible. It was pretty much a parent’s way of telling us not to bring a surprise baby into the world.”
Alexandra Moody, Stuck with You
“Mom: You look beautiful!!! Mom: Aiden does too! Mom: He’s cuddled up VERY close to you! TOO CLOSE! Mom: **Sorry, that was your dad**”
Alexandra Moody, Stuck with You
“Her hair was in a messy bun, and the makeup she’d been wearing yesterday was completely gone. The funny thing was, I thought she looked as beautiful in this outfit as she did in her prom dress. Maybe even more.”

“I couldn’t like Aiden. I just couldn’t. But, as I stared at the small daisy around my wrist, I didn’t feel so sure.”
Alexandra Moody, Stuck with You
“Aiden, the boy who made it his mission in life to annoy me, who loved nothing more than getting under my skin, who I wasn’t at all interested in.”
Alexandra Moody, Stuck with You
“I had to wonder if Aiden’s charm was starting to work its magic on me, because the more time I spent with him, the more I had to remind myself how much he annoyed me and how I wasn’t supposed to like him. Right now was one of those times, and I was really struggling to remember why I’d ever disliked him in the first place.”

“Elliot pointed the camera lens in our direction. “Say Elliot is the best!” “Elliot’s got no chest,” Aiden replied happily.”

“but you can’t make fun of me.” “Why would I make fun of you?” “Because that’s what you do.” She wasn’t wrong.”

“I was only human though—a very weak human who was infatuated with the girl beside me.”

“She lifted her eyes to the ceiling before pointing her spoon in the direction of my laptop. “What’s that for?” “Netflix,” I replied. “We need a good distraction, and I’ve got a great movie to get us started.” I turned the laptop to show her what I was thinking. She looked intrigued until she caught sight of the title on the screen. She quickly looked away, and her eyes glistened like she was about to cry. I immediately started to panic. “I-I picked a horror movie because I knew you liked them,” I said. “I mean, they terrify me, but I thought that would make you enjoy it even more.” I was rambling, but the sight of her watery eyes worried me. I was supposed to be helping her, not making things worse. “You’re right,” she murmured. “I do love horror films. It’s just… It’s something I do with my dad…” Her voice broke as she spoke. I quickly backtracked. “We can watch something else… In fact, I happen to know a few good chick flicks that we could watch instead.” Her face scrunched at the thought, and she blinked away the tears. Her voice was a little firmer when she responded. “You think I want to watch a chick flick?” “Uh, no? I mean, no, of course not. That was just a joke.” I quickly started searching the Netflix menu for something else. I was completely messing this up.”

“I come bearing gifts,” I said. I passed her a tub of cookie dough ice cream before opening my laptop and setting it up on the bed. I made sure to wedge it between us. I was all for testing the boundaries of Clary’s personal space but only when she was her normal happy, slightly fiery self. She was like an electric fence I liked to try to get close to, just to see if I got zapped. It seemed like the power was currently off though, and it felt unfair to even try.”

“So, what have you been doing in here?” I pressed. She let out another sigh. “Moping, I guess.” “Moping? That sounds like a terribly depressing activity to do on your own.” Her eyes sparked with a little more emotion as she glanced back up at me. “It’s not exactly the kind of activity you do with others either.” “Are you kidding? I love a good moping session, and I happen to be a great moping buddy.” Clary didn’t respond. Instead, she looked at me like I was slightly unhinged. I was only trying to help though, and she needed someone right now, whether she liked it or not. “And as your official moping buddy, I have to say you’re doing it all wrong,” I continued. “You’re not my official moping buddy. And I was moping just fine on my own before you came along.” “I beg to differ. There’s no tub of ice cream in here, and you don’t even have some good emo music playing in the background. This is like a moping catastrophe.” “So, you’re telling me that I don’t even mope right?” “Your words, not mine, but pretty much. It’s lucky I came in here when I did, so I can set this all straight.”

“I found something about her irritation highly appealing. She was like a cute kitten trying to run her claws across my skin, and instead of inflicting pain, all she did was lightly tickle me.”

“I wasn’t normally a violent person—unless it involved killing zombies in video games,”

“Pranking girls should be illegal—especially if it involved waking her up before nine in the morning.”

“Most of my clothes looked like I’d slept in them or spent days lazing around in them while watching Netflix. Both were probably true.”
Alexandra Moody, Stuck with You
“Clary rubbed Shelly on the back and glared at me over her shoulder. Yep, she definitely wasn’t on Team Aiden right now. I appeared to have thoroughly pissed off two girls in a matter of minutes. That had to be a record, even for me.”
Alexandra Moody, Stuck with You
“Aiden leaned back on his stool, crossing his arms over his chest. His muscles naturally bulged at the movement. Not that I was eyeing his muscles.”

“I’ve seen you around Clary, and you act differently. It’s like you can’t help but try and push her buttons.” He wasn’t wrong. There was nothing I liked more than pushing Clary’s buttons. Riling her up was like an itch that constantly needed scratching. I was satisfied while I was doing it, but as soon as I stopped, the itch came back more intensely. It couldn’t be normal. I probably needed help.”

“I hear we’re about to become lockdown buddies.” Why did his eyes have to sparkle at the thought? I didn’t need him turning his weapons of mass flirtation on me at this hour of the morning. “It’s only until my parents are home,” I grunted. “And that shouldn’t be more than a couple of days.” “I thought you’d be more excited about the idea. I’ll make a great lockdown buddy.” “Who says I’m not excited? Clearly, I’m ecstatic.” A low chuckle rumbled from Aiden’s chest at the dry tone of my voice. “This is going to be fun.”

“Guys rarely bothered me, and that was great because most of the guys at our school were immature idiots.”

“You going to put that pizza in then?” he continued. “I don’t think it will cook on the counter.”

“I beg to differ. There’s no tub of ice cream in here, and you don’t even have some good emo music playing in the background. This is like a moping catastrophe.”
Alexandra Moody, Stuck with You
“Not many girls I knew could demolish an entire tub of ice cream in one sitting, and it was impressive.”
Alexandra Moody, Stuck with You
“I’m not like most girls.”
