Hook's Daughter Quotes Showing 1-3 of 3
“Charging forward, she used the board to smack the boy nearest her that was holding onto the girl.  He yelped and let go of the little girl’s arm. Off balance, the other boy dropped her onto the ground. The girl scrambled to her feet, took in the situation and ran to stand behind Rommy.  The five boys stared at Rommy for a moment. Rommy felt very small, looking up at them. They were all at least a head taller than she was.  The leader, recovering from his surprise, sneered. “What do we have here? A hero to the rescue, eh?” Rommy lifted her chin. “It takes a lot of courage for five big boys to beat up on a little girl. You should be so proud of yourselves.” “Shut your pie hole,” said the leader. “This ain’t none of your business. It looks like you need a lesson, too. Little toffs like you don’t belong here.“ He cracked his knuckles and advanced.  “I give you fair warning,” said Rommy. “I don’t want to hurt you. The little girl and I will just be leaving.” “You ain’t going anywhere,” he snarled, “and we ain’t the ones that’s going to be hurting.”
