“(Gal. 6:6). 63 Shepherd Preachers are called to preach this Word of God, and nothing else. When a preacher fails to preach the Scriptures, “he abandons his authority. He confronts his hearers no longer with a word from God but only with another word from men.”64 Practically speaking, as a result, preaching must always be saturated in God’s written revelation as contained in both the Old and the New Testaments. Preaching that pleases God is not in the business of “speculating about God's nature, will, or ways, but is bearing witness to what God has spoken concerning himself. Preaching does not consist of speculation but of exposition. The preacher dares to speak the Word of truth to a generation that rejects the very notion of objective, public truth.”
