“roundabouts are a circus: very wide, no lanes, one”
Lawrence Bransby, By Motorcycle through Vietnam: Reflections on a gracious people
“road; slower scooters block the road in front, faster ones whip past from behind; trucks flash their lights, hoot and then fill the oncoming lane with their lethal bulk, forcing you to take evasive action onto the hard shoulder; bicycles and push-carts suddenly materialise out of the melee while other scooters, finding themselves on the wrong side of the road, ride straight at you using the hard shoulder. This is understandable, I suppose; safer than attempting to cross but still potentially lethal. Traffic roundabouts are a circus: very wide, no lanes, one can encounter traffic coming at you from anywhere. Approach and negotiate with caution. It's a death zone.”
Lawrence Bransby, By Motorcycle through Vietnam: Reflections on a gracious people
