“The church, where Lisa's parents attended, had a basement where terrible rituals were performed at night. Lisa's father, who had a key to the building, let his followers enter there to perform their rituals of torture. The basement also had a Sunday school room off to the side. This was the three-and four-year-old class that Lisa attended on Sunday mornings. One Sunday morning, Lisa's class traced and learned a verse of Scripture, "God is love." All the children colored their papers to take them home. "What is love?" Lisa thought. "There is no such thing! So there must be no such thing as this God, either." This was Lisa's philosophy for many years to come. She would explain to herself that the God she hated didn't really exist anyway.”

“The Bible was read in a cruel way. And prayer that was elaborate and phony filled the air. Even Little Lisa was forced to pray as a punishment. "Repent, for you are evil! Lisa, you pray!”, the cruel voice resounded., "You are the one who needs it!" Terrible resentment toward Richard, the leader of this clan of people, who was also Lisa's father, filled Lisa's mind and heart. She wanted him dead before he could hurt anyone again. And this horrible Bible that he read in his cruel, snarling voice? Lisa hated it, too. The unending mental torture, called "prayer", that Lisa was commanded to participate in as a condemnation for her wickedness brought a barrier against the God to whom she was forced to pray. She hated that "God" as well.”

“Lisa became more and more aware of her mother's resentment and verbal assaults directed at her as she grew older. She longed for a mother who would give her approval and not just meet her physical needs. "You'll never have any friends!" Lisa's mother, Gail, shouted. "If I had known you would be like this, I never would have had you.”

“No matter how deeply she dug, the body was not there. The truth was that the body had been moved and Lisa did not know where. The hope of changing what she had seen was now gone and it was her fault. If she had died instead, the infant would not have had to be killed. Isn't that what they had told her? She gave up crying and digging.”

“This is a true story. However, many names have been changed. Though written in a creative manner, it does not depart from the facts. Some of Lisa's memories may seem difficult to believe. Many people are not aware of the true activities that take place undercover in the occult. Lisa bears in her body evidences of the torture she endured. Can it be proven? Like the existence of God, the evidence is there but cannot be proven either way. Some parts of Lisa's story may seem controversial, such as deliverance from evil spirits or dissociation and multiple personalities. Yet the spiritual world and that of the mind are not usually explored thoroughly until trauma makes it necessary. The story of Lisa's journey is not meant to repulse the reader or to entertain, but to bring hope to all who have suffered emotional anguish or may be suffering it now. If it brings change, healing, and hope to those who read it, Lisa's struggles will not be in vain. If it brings insight to those who desire to be helpful, let its purpose be fulfilled.”
