Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians Commentary Quotes Showing 1-1 of 1
“The Law killed the Christian (Rom. 7:8–9). He was officially declared dead (Eph. 2:1–4). When he accepted Christ, only his spirit revived (Eph. 2:5–6; John 3:5); but his old dead body (Gal. 2:20) went right on moving (Rom. 6:1–9). His soul was cut loose from this flesh (Rom. 7:1–4) to marry Jesus Christ and become one Spirit (1 Cor. 6:17), yet he still drags the corpse with him to a hole in the ground (or the hole in the sky!!). That corpse was nailed to the cross with Jesus Christ and buried with Him (Rom. 6:1–11). The Christian has no hold on the Law, and it has no hold on him (Rom. 7:1–4). The changing of other laws (Rom. 8:2) into laws of a legal nature to bring him back into bondage (Gal. 5:1) are satanic, whether they originated with Alexander Campbell’s “Church of Christ” or the Italian winoe’s “Roman Catholic” Church.”
