“abiding in the love of God frees us from all insecurity and leads us into a lifetime of joyful, worshipful obedience.”
Francis Chan, Beloved
“Years ago, I was in an elder meeting when the church was going through a difficult time. Our typical strategy would be to extend the meeting so we could have a longer discussion. One of the elders suggested that we should spend the entire time on our knees instead—trust our prayers more than our logic. It was hard to argue with that, even though everything in our flesh wanted to talk and fix the problems. We decided to forgo talking and just pray the entire time. I honestly don’t recall the outcome, but I do remember leaving the room with peace. The best part about it was that we started a new trend. We endured too many meetings where discussion went overtime, leaving only a minute or two for a token closing prayer. It’s no longer unusual for praise and prayer to go so long that we are left with little time for talking. I believe a day will come when God will show us how much time we wasted on earth “figuring things out” and reveal to us the outrageous results of our prayers.”

“Some of you probably did not have a great father. Maybe you had an average dad or a terrible relationship with your dad or no relationship with your dad or your dad left the home or maybe you don’t even know who your dad is. And so when you hear the word father and you try to think of God”
Francis Chan, Beloved
“When you spend more time praying for a girlfriend”
Francis Chan, Beloved
“The good news of the gospel is that if you follow Jesus, you get … that’s right … Jesus! You get Him and He is more than enough for you no matter what your circumstances are. It is true that He saves us from hell and God can help your marriage and family, but it’s a problem when we emphasize Jesus being the pathway to these treasures. It’s idolatry, not the gospel, when we elevate gifts above the Giver and sell Jesus as a means to get the things we want more than Jesus Himself. People lose sight of the fact that God is the treasure!”
Francis Chan, Beloved
“So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us. (1 John 4:16–19)”
Francis Chan, Beloved
“You are loved by God, not for what you do, not because you've earned it, but because He chose to set His affection on you before the foundation of the world. This love is not fleeting or conditional, it's not based on your performance or dependent on your perfection. It's as eternal and unchanging as God himself. When your love grows cold, His remains constant. When you feel alone, He is still with you. When the enemy attacks, God fights for you. My prayer for you, beloved, is not that your life would be easy, but that it would be anchored. Anchored in the love of the Father, who gave his Son for you. Anchored in the grace of Jesus, who died and rose again for you. Anchored in the power of the Spirit, who lives and works in you. Be loved, beloved. Not just today, but forever.”
