“transforming our lives. In this, we must remember that wisdom from the Lord is not a one-time acquisition, or merely a collecting of knowledge, but a daily commitment to walk according to the Word of God.”

“God puts us where He wants us. Esther was a young Jewish woman who was whisked from obscurity to become queen of the world’s most powerful empire. It seems surprising that she could rise to such a position—but it was no surprise to God. He had placed Esther exactly where He wanted her to be so He could work out a bigger plan that He had for His people’s salvation. In the same way, God placed Mordecai exactly where He wanted him to be so that he could influence Esther. Esther and Mordecai could not have seen what God intended to do through them, and neither can we. Our job, like theirs, is to work faithfully wherever the Lord has placed us and allow Him to take care of the future.”

“God loves to meet our needs. In 2 Kings 4, we read of five situations of dire need: (1) the widow on the verge of starvation, (2) the barren woman, (3) the grieving mother, (4) the sons of the prophets with the poisoned stew, and (5) the one hundred men on the brink of starvation. God met each need with His gracious provision, which reveals He loves to meet His people’s needs. However, when we choose to rely on our wealth or find our joy in our possessions, we miss out on the fact that God is capable of meeting our needs in this way. The same principle applies to our spiritual condition. Only when we realize the depth of our sin can we recognize the graciousness of God in salvation (see Luke 5:31–32).”

“God will send discipline into our lives to make us purer and more like Christ, but His deep desire is for us to obey Him out of love and gratitude rather than by the compulsion of hardship. It is a mark of spiritual maturity to obey God’s Word simply because we know that it pleases and glorifies the Father.”

“again, they continuously accused Him of treachery. It is a natural human response to complain when things go wrong, but when we do so, we are actually saying that we do not trust the Lord’s sovereignty. Instead, as Paul wrote, we should choose to “do all things without complaining and disputing” (Philippians 2:14).”

“The Ten Commandments fall into these two categories. Some of them spell out what it means to love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds, while others give practical ways of loving our neighbors as ourselves. These two principles summarize what it means to live a godly life.”

“We may never become world leaders in this life, but the Lord’s plans for our future are still important in the eternal scheme. He is preparing each of us now to be ready for that great role of leadership, and He uses every circumstance in our lives for that preparation—including suffering and hardship.”
