The Holy Spirit Quotes

“While it is denied that additions are being made to the canon of Scripture, it is nevertheless implied that an actual addition is being made to the canon of living. Otherwise, the illumination of Scripture and the wisdom to apply it would be sufficient.”
― Sinclair B. Ferguson, The Holy Spirit

“Thus the fruit of the Spirit (‘love …’, Gal. 5:22) should be distinguished from the gifts of the Spirit, but ought never to be absent in their exercise. For without love, and the humility which accompanies it (Rom. 12:3; 1 Cor. 4:7), the purpose of the gifts of the Spirit is thwarted (1 Cor. 13:1–3).”
― Sinclair B. Ferguson, The Holy Spirit

“the Spirit orders (or re-orders) and ultimately beautifies God’s creation. In the Garden of Eden, the tabernacle and the temple the worshipper discovers the beauty of holiness, which is but a reflection of the beauty of God himself (1 Ch. 16:29; Ps. 96:9).”
