Lisette Starr, Sleeping Beauty: A Red Beetle Classic Fairy Tale
“A long time ago in a land far away a princess was born on a sunny spring day. The king and queen were so very delighted they decided that everyone should be invited to a naming day feast and a big celebration to welcome the princess with much jubilation. So the herald was called and without delay he hopped on his horse and he went on his way to invite everybody who lived in their land to the naming day party the royals had planned. The herald had clearly been told to invite every last villager, fairy and sprite. But when he arrived at a ramshackle shack the state of the house took him rather aback. He knew that the warty nosed fairy lived there but he just kept on riding like he didn’t care. The warty nosed fairy she cried and she cried “Oh why can’t they see they see that I’m lovely inside.”
