Stacey B Curious to see what you think. I havent read this.

Jennifer nyc Oh, no, you just flew past me, Charles, 😂. While I’ve been galavanting with my cousin, Ben has grabbed my copy. He’s now “at the Shiva.”
I should be back late this afternoon from my last hang with Juliet before she returns to FL. I’ll try to catch up then…

Jennifer nyc By the way — and I think this will amuse you — Ben said that he wouldn’t think this book was for me because the humor is mean!

Stacey, I'm enjoying this, the writing is competent and generous, and it had been a while since a novel made me not just smile, but actually laugh a little. Tough public, here, but this book doses its humour just right for my tastes (which is to say: go ahead, be funny, then move on). A rarity!

I'll slow down. It's the cutest that you and Ben share books back and forth like this. #lifegoals

It does amuse me. It is snarky, but is it truly mean?

Jennifer nyc No, it’s not usually. I just read up to 253, and I really enjoyed that whole part about Nathan. This happened to me with Beamer, too. I liked getting to know Nathan’s wife.

Ben’s loving the humor, is surprised how close it is to laugh-out-loud. He doesn’t feel invested in Beamer for the amount of time spent. I felt the same, he said it better.

I’m having fun again with it now. Her type of character study feels intensely imbalanced for me, I see how it’s personal aesthetic over craft. But when things start to happen, I just love it.

Of all things it could be called, it is, in fact, an eventful novel! lol
