This is a fascinating personal account of his upbringing, background, education and life. It is also a revealing glimpse into the collapse of the Soviet Union and the failure of democracy to take hold. Rampant corruption is endemic and was before and after the collapse. Its a sober reminder of what happens to folks who oppose a corrupt authoritarian regime.
