It's been a while since I've updated. Finished Samuel 2, Kings 1 and 2, and Chronicles 1 and 2. These books are mainly histories of the long lines of kings of Judah and Israel, the state of the faith under their reigns, relations with neighboring nations and the kings' various military conflicts and accomplishments. Far too many names and details and centuries to fully digest in a first reading.

Still going. Finished Luke which puts me at about 85% through.

Finished Ecclesiates, Song of Solomon, and Isaiah. I've also begun reading the Wikipedia article on each book before reading the book itself. The background is interesting and it helps me follow the plot through the 400 year old language.

Finished Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, and Proverbs, putting me over halfway through the 788,000 words of the KJV. By the way, the title of this book, I notice, recently changed to "Holy Bible: LDS King James Version". The "LDS" wasn't there before. Not sure why it changed, but I am not, to my knowledge, reading an LDS version.

Finished Joshua, Judges, Ruth and 1st Samuel. These books have been more story-oriented than the earlier books and very interesting. There's a surprising amount of warfare. Saul's story in 1 Samuel is tragic, and not one that I've ever heard told.

Finished Deuteronomy. Easily the most readable book thus far. Lots of well known bits come from this book. Man shall not live on bread alone, for example. There's a dumbfounding bit about the tithe in chapter 14. If I've read it correctly, it says that you may spend your tithe money on liquor and drink it yourself. Maybe I'm misreading it.

Finished Numbers. The census and sacrifice bits were a little hard to get into, but it was otherwise a very interesting book. Balaam's story is more significant and complicated than they tell you in Sunday school. Chapter 31 was troubling. Will have to revisit it.

Finished Leviticus. The voluminous animal sacrifice bits were a little tough to slog through, animal sacrifice not being part of my own religious repertoire, but it was a far easier read than Exodus and interesting besides.

Finished Exodus. Phew! Moses knew a thing or two about writing requirement specs.
