This is a book of short stories by a writer with remarkable ways of getting into the heads and moments of characters of different ages and gender. The child in ‘The Naughty Step’ to loss in ‘Becoming Lavender’ . I don't want to read it all in one go but slowly savour the different characters, themes, twists and turns through the ages of men and women.
