Edgar Allan Poe is exactly whom I picked up this strange collection for, but the vagueness of image as grown by the scattered references which are but chaff, for all that they record of the blunt emotions that remained to be recorded, gave me no idea of him, save the alleged darkness of his stories, to look forward to. One story can tell me of how he popularized the detective genre.
