Summary: it's very saddening, because in this section, Jon finds out that the man he thought was Andy stumbling into camp, was a different man, and then he realizes that he told the group that Andy went into his tent, when he was never seen near camp. This leads Jon to believe that he is responsible for Andy's death.

Descriptive Quote: "Then they suddenly stopped and doubled back, and it quickly became obvious they didn't have any idea where we were. At that point I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. That's when I first knew we were in trouble." (215) This quote shows how distressed Schoening's group becomes.

Summary: the scenario begins to become creepy in this section. When Jon needs a new oxygen tank, and Andy tells him that there are no full ones, but then Jon finds six full ones, I could tell that some of the climbers' minds were not functioning, and it could cost other climbers' lives.

Prediction: at the end of this chapter, Jon reaches the summit of Mt. Everest. He explains how his excitement wears out when he remembers what he must face during the descent. I predict that total chaos will hit the entire group of climbers in the chapters to come.

Quote: "Neither woman imagined that these would be the a last conversations they would ever have with Fischer." (156) This quote hit me hard because I realized that innocent people would die during the trek.

Theme: the theme in this section is gloomy- showing how treacherous Everest is. Jon narrates how a boulder fell on Andy Harris's chest when climbing.

Realization: while reading this section, I realized that the climbers had to climb from each camp (there are four) multiple time to get acclimatized. This gave me a whole new understanding of Jon and his fellow climbers' trek.

Favorite moment: I like when Jon was descending to Base Camp, and some of his old friends came out of the mountains after committing mutiny. They described their old leader as an asshole and a total jerk, so they left.
