Wow, the beginning of this novel was amazing and full of life and interesting sentiments from Victor and his friends and relatives. The last volume of this book is simply him whining about his depression and terror of being murdered only to see all of his friends murdered slowly one by one.

I barely remember reading this (the 1831 version, not the 1818 version I'm reading now) in 11th grade, but I know that I found it somewhat dull back then. Now, in my late twenties, I find it invigorating and fascinating.
