Being now on chapter 4, it looks to me that Harker maybe really isn't the brightest out there. He's got the feeling of being in danger many times but always tries to excuse strange things happening. Mind you he saw Count Dracula crawling lizard style down a wall! He SHOULD suspect EVERYTHING happening to him.

His diary entries where he explains what happened and what he plans to do (he writes not so much about his feelings; fear, being terrified??), the occasional hysteria ("I know now the span of my life. God help me!"), which is quite a contrast to his still naive way of handling the situation, actually make me like him. He just makes me laugh.

The funniest quote so far is "Once again have I seen the Count go out in his lizard fashion.", it made me chuckle because the way I'm imagining it is hilarious

Count Dracula goes on quite a bit about how his English isn't too good and he plans to keep Harker in his castle for a while so that Harker can help him improve his English. The count comes off a bit as insecure which might me a farce to convince the solicitor to stay.
Harker finally realizes that the atmosphere isn't just eerie but he is in fact a prisoner in the count's big castle.
