I’m only halfway through listening to the audiobook but I have repeatedly yelled “NO!” at my phone - finding this to be absurdly hagiographic. Hard to swallow a positive portrayal of a man who came from Kansas’s Tammany Hall (even if “clean” - hard to believe, he sanctioned it & he kept up the cronyism in office), personally liked Stalin, happily dropped the bomb, & ridiculed Oppenheimer for his concerns

Not that I’m against highlighting Truman’s successes. But the author seems to be going the extra step to defend and justify every one of his actions, which really grates.
worth reading John Hersey’s “Hiroshima” 5x over instead of the passages in this book on the bomb
