In the past year, my favorite book I have read is The Martian. I am a fan of Sci-Fi, and this story was fun and gripping to read. The isolation yet humorous tone of the book would twist your emotions when specific events events occurred, in which you would feel frustrated or happy for Mark Watney. While entertaining me, I also learned a lot about space in the process, which made The Martian all the better to read.

This book has big similarities to Michael Crichton's famous novel, Jurassic Park. These books are similar in many different ways. The writing style is the same, for example, in which he tells many stories which eventually intertwine with one another into the central plot. Also, these books share the idea of getting lost in a new world, in which the characters have to find a new way to survive in different conditions.

I would interview the character Peter Jansen. In this interview, I would ask questions such as what he did in college, the relationship between him and his now dead brother, and where he came from. I think knowing this would be interesting because it would give the character more depth and possibly more simpathy if he answered negatively. He might possibly have a strewn life, which would give his character depth.

Following the mysterious death of his brother, Peter extensively looks into the reason he was killed and who killed him. He has reason to believe it was his coworkers, who had invited him and his friends to visit their company Nanigen. During the tour, he finally makes the suspects snap, causing them to shrink down him and his friends to half an inch. To kill him, Peter is thrown into a snake pit, left to die.

In this book, the main character, Peter, is a scientist that had just graduated from college and studies with 6 other classmates. Peter is out-going, smart and clever. From the events that has happened so far, such as his brother's untimely death and an invitation to study new science in Honolulu, Peter has shown that he keeps a calm mentality when mysterious things happen. This mentality might help him later on.
