God mentions at least thirty-eight different kinds of 'hubb' - 'love' or 'liking' - in the Holy Qur'an. Each of these thirty-eight kinds of hubb differs subtly in meaning from each of the others so that there is no tautology in Arabic, and each word means something unique and precise but subtly different.

Through the supplication, 'My Lord, have mercy on them, just as they reared me when I was little', God reminds people of the mercy their parents showed them when they were young - however remiss they may have been in certain details - because every living person is alive only due to God's grace and mercy, and then due to the mercy of his or her parents.

From Executive summary, 7th ed.: ...with love: it naturally grows when the other [human] faculties are harnessed to its cause. Conversely, it is halted by not allowing any of the other faculties to incline towards a given object.
