This novel just keeps surprising me. It isn't simply that the characters are not who you thought they were, it is in some instances where the setting itself is so mysterious, holding its cards close to the chest that you are uncertain and curious about the very nature of the setting and the atmosphere. It is so good I'd call it a pageturner. This exclusive club that is dripping decadence is horror served with a chill.

I was trying to finish this tonight, but it will have to be tomorrow. The storyline really picked up momentum and so was really interested in what happened next. There were some more surprises. This thriller from the late J.F. Gonzalez has been a very entertaining read. He even manages some underlying black humor.

This novel is insidiously chilling and one moment you are plodding along and then you are side swiped by a scene of unsuspected horror. The missing daughter thread is like fishing. You know there is a fish on the line but you have to reel it in to evaluate it. The author uses a timeline. You have the attorney who is happy running a resort. What about the stealing, murders, and eviscerating?
