Pound for pound, this has been the most helpful textbook I’ve read for my carewr. An excellent introduction to psychoanalysis, McWilliams writes in a tone that invites the fledgling mental health professional to think about his or her patients in a more profound and kinder manner. I’m firmly in the camp of Object Relations theory and can’t wait to explore further as i start my child psychiatry fellowship.
